RaboResearch - Economic Research

RaboResearch - Economic Research offers real-time alerts on new publications via RSS feeds. Ease of installation and use, and features vary by web service/application. Below you will find the instructions for the web services Blogtrottr and Inoreader and the application Outlook.

Blogtrottr

If you only want to receive email alerts of all of our publications (English and Dutch), then we advise you to use Blogtrottr. A free Blogtrottr account is sufficient.

Please follow the following steps:

- Go to http://blogtrottr.com/

- Enter 1 of the URLs in the field just below 'Getting started' and enter your email address next to it. You can choose for real-time alerts or less frequent alerts. Click on ‘Feed me’.

For English publications: https://economics.rabobank.com/rss
For Dutch publications: https://economie.rabobank.com/rss

- Click on ‘Subscribe to a new feed’ if you would like to add the other feed too.

If you want to change the subject of each email alert, enter the text in the field next to ‘Email subject’. For example, you could change it to ‘Rabobank Economic Research:’. Hold {item_title} at the end.

You can set the the email format to ‘text-only’ if you want to. You can change this on the page Account settings. As a result no ads will be shown in emails now.

If you want to limit the alerts to items that have a title or summary with or without one or more keywords, you can  check the box next to ‘Filter enabled’ and add a matching rule on the page of the subscription .

Inoreader

Inoreader is a bit more difficult to configure than Blogtrottr, but we recommend it due to its wide range of possibilities. Namely, Inoreader cannot only be used to create email alerts, but also to receive alerts via its app or website.

Below, we describe how to configure email alerts and popup alerts on your phone.

- Go to http://www.inoreader.com/  and create an Inoreader account. If you would like to use the Inoreader app, install the app on your smartphone.

- Enter one of the following URLs in the field ‘Search or subscribe’ on the Inoreader website:

For English publications: https://economics.rabobank.com/rss
For Dutch publications: https://economie.rabobank.com/rss

- When you enter the URL you see ‘Add feeds from <entered url>’. Click on it to add the feed to Inoreader. You can add the other feed in the same way.

- If you do not have an Inoreader Plus or Professional account and you would like to receive alerts from Dutch as well as English publications, then you have to create a folder with the two feeds as an additional step. Click in the left part of Inoreader on the gear wheel and choose 'Add folder'. For example, name the folder 'Rabobank Economics NL+EN' and add both feeds to the folders. Below we illustrate the steps for alerts from a folder with 2 feeds.

If you go to the folder now, and click on ‘Folder settings’ (upper right), and choose ‘Create rule’. In this way, you can create a rule to email alerts or to show alerts as a popup on your smartphone.

- First, give the rule a name. For example, type ‘Rabobank-economics-EN-email’ in the field next to ‘Rule name’.

- If you only want to get alerts when the title or summary contain one or more keywords, then you enter these keywords as below:

Inoreader rules

- Enter your email address next to ‘Send to email’. Right to it you can enter a prefix for the subject of each email. For example ‘Rabobank Economic Research:’. Click ‘Save rule’.

- If you would like to receive push messages on your smartphone (iOS/Android) instead of emails, then you can select the action ‘Push mobile notification’ instead of ‘Send to email’. Receiving both email alerts and push messages is possible too.

- If you would like to receive alerts from the subscriptions in a folder and have no paid account, then you need to enter a keyword that will certainly not be in the items. For example 'myecoreader' and change 'does contain' in 'doesn't contain'.

Please, note that the web interface of Inoreader can be configured in different kinds of ways. So, there is no need to keep the standard card view if that would not appeal to you.

Outlook

Finally, you can receive alerts via Microsoft Outlook (application). An important limitation is that you only get alerts when Outlook is active. You can easily receive alerts by adding the following URL(s) to Outlook.

- Click in the left window with the right mouse on ‘RSS-feeds’, and then on ‘Add a New RSS-feed’. Enter one of the following feeds:

For English publications: https://economics.rabobank.com/rss
For Dutch publications: https://economie.rabobank.com/rss

You can add the other feed in the same way.

The feeds are now available  in the folder RSS-feeds and will be refreshed every hour.

- If you would like to receive items in another folder (for example ‘Inbox’), you can create a rule by going to ‘File’, ‘Manage Rules and Alerts’. If you wish, the rule can be reduced to items that contain specific keywords in the title.
