Spanish elections: take four!

Sunday’s elections in Spain are unlikely to break the deadlock in parliament. The economy will continue to grow relatively fast in the short term, but growth is slowing while unemployment is still high and public finances weak.

Eurozone growth accelerates in the first quarter of 2019

Eurozone economy grew by 0.4% quarter-on-quarter in the first quarter of 2019. Domestic demand in the Eurozone is expected to be the main driver as external demand was weak. Italy climbed out of recession in the first quarter of 2019, while Spain remains the Eurozone’s bright star.

Eurozone: waar is de vraag gebleven? (Dutch)

We verwachten dat de economie in de eurozone in 2019 met 1,3 procent groeit en in 2020 met 1,5 procent. De groei zal worden gedreven door de binnenlandse bestedingen. De belangrijkste risico’s blijven de Brexit en een verdere escalatie van de handelsspanningen tussen de VS en de EU.
