The Netherlands: Domestic economy shows strong recovery

The domestic sector of the Dutch economy is in phase of accelerated growth. The labour market is recovering faster than expected. Moreover, the confidence of Dutch consumers and producers increased significantly in recent months and consumers finally began to spend more.

Dutch economic growth slows

Recent data indicate that real GDP growth in the second quarter will probably turn out lower than we had originally expected. This is mainly caused by lower gas production.

Mixed picture in the Dutch economy

We expect broadly based growth in both 2016 and 2017. The most recent monthly figures do however present a mixed picture of the Dutch economy: export volume increased unexpectedly rapidly, while household consumption was disappointing.
