Eurozone: Closing the gap through fiscal transfers?

Economic convergence is a prerequisite for a stable Eurozone in the long run, but this may be hard to achieve. In the short term it might be more rewarding to investigate the possibilities of narrowing the gap in competitiveness.

Phase One Monitor: September Update. Decoupling taking shape

Based on the latest trade data, China only has five months left to crank up imports of US goods and services by USD 100bn in order to reach the 2020 target in the Phase One trade deal. This seems unrealistic and we believe that the Phase One trade deal will break down before the year is out.


Decoupling US-China supply chains: High tech on the move

We find clear indications that US supply chains have started to shift away from China. Vietnam, Mexico and Taiwan are the main beneficiaries of this shift. But the US also seems to be benefiting as we see signs of reshoring.
