Daniël Poolen

Energy Transition Specialist

Daniël Poolen was a specialist in energy transition and circular economy at RaboResearch.

He focused on developments in the area of the green EU taxonomy, energy transition and circular economy with a special interest in plastics.

Daniël had a background in sustainability engineering and journalism.
He worked on the topic of plastic pollution with (inter)national environmental organizations. Before Rabobank, he worked for two years at the Royal Dutch Society of Engineers where he managed projects on various topics concerning sustainability and circular economy.
He was a presenter and journalist for several Dutch television programs on sustainability at the Dutch Foundation for Public Broadcasting (NPO).

Daniël studied Industrial Design Engineering with a focus on Sustainable Technologies for Product Development at the University of Twente.

There is pressure to address the problem of plastic packaging waste. Advanced recycling is mentioned as a promising solution and can complement existing recycling methods, accelerating the transition to a circular economy.

Groen herstel is met deze Miljoenennota niet te verwachten. De CO2-heffing zal weinig effect hebben en het Nationaal Groeifonds heeft geen groen karakter. Groen herstel zal nog wel mogelijk zijn, maar de prikkel daarvoor zal van Europa komen.
